Carl Johnson: A Paedophile Who Repeatedly Sexually Abused A Girl Child At A South London Church Has Been Jailed For A Decade

Carl Johnson, 53, of Bowden Drive, Dulwich was sentenced at Kingston Crown Court after being found guilty of offences carried out in the 1990s.

He used his position as a member of the Battersea church community to groom his young victim, beginning in 1991.

He gradually progressed to sexual abusing her and carried out multiple offences up until 1995, while she was aged between 13 and 15.

His victim contacted police about the abuse in 2014 and an investigation was immediately launched.

Johnson was found guilty after a five-day trial and was today sentenced to ten years behind bars.

An NSPCC spokesperson said: “Johnson’s victim has shown incredible courage in speaking out about the abuse she suffered.

“Johnson abused his position of trust and protection within the local community and it is thanks to his victim’s bravery that he now faces the consequences of his appalling actions.

“We hope that his victim is receiving all available help and support to overcome what has happened to her.”
